Over his thirty-year career, design poet Robert Wilson (American, b. 1941) has explored the human experience in provocative and enigmatic ways. His brilliant approach to theater, dance, set design, installations, architecture, and furniture ranges from Einstein on the Beach (1976) to the more recent collaboration with Lou Reed titled POEtry. His famed Watermill Center, founded in 1992 on eastern Long Island, is a multidisciplinary laboratory that spawns new work in the arts and lures distinguished artists from around the world.
