Diane Lewis has been the Principal of Diane Lewis Architect since 1982. She is known for creating intimate, highly crafted projects inspired by literature and Surrealist and abstract works of art. Her minimalist approach emphasizes refined, inventive use of structural elements and space, integrating the character of preexisting conditions. Lewis has completed commissions for the Kunsthalle New York, the New York Studio School, the New York University School of Law, Condé Nast Traveler, Givenchy, and the Paul Kasmin gallery. Lewis has taught architecture at the Cooper Union School of Architecture since 1982, and published a monograph entitled Diane Lewis: Inside-Out Architecture New York City.
