The three main criteria for the jury are excellence, innovation, and enhancement of the quality of life. What do you think?

  1. All of Potions installations present information to people in a way that delights and informs. Crowds form and strangers engage in spontaneous conversation as people realize how to use the displays. Excellence, Innovation and Enhancement of the Quality of Life are without a doubt the backbone of each project!

  2. As their name suggests, Potion uses interactive technologies to enter new states of wonderment and learning. The intuitive tactility of their installations jumps the logic chasm into an almost magical realm that is open for everyone to discover. They deserve this honor, absolutely.

  3. “Crowds form and strangers engage in spontaneous conversation”

Come on. These “crowds and strangers” are made up of the tiny (TINY) minority of people who go to wine bars where expensive interactive technology is deployed. Members of the same rarified social class who haven’t happened to meet yet are as uninteresting and easy to design for an audience as there could possibly be. This is a group that does not need their “quality of life” to be “enhanced.” Oh, you’ve amused the digerati for ten minutes while they sip wine! I bet they Twittered that they were moderately interested!

  4. I have had the pleasure to work with Potion Design on my wine bar “Clo” in NYC and I can tell you that in addition to great work – they are fantastic people who are grounded and down to earth. I cannot recommend them enough to other clients for their efforts! Clo has received world-wide acclaim because of their hard work & stunning design on the interactive table!

Founded by graduates of the MIT Media Laboratory, Potion is a design and technology firm that specializes in interactive installations. Potion’s strength lies in the creation of aesthetic solutions that use technology to produce experiences that transcend the ordinary. By seamlessly integrating digital processes into physical structures, Potion enables the design of spaces that inform, educate and entertain. We treat each client as a special case, considering their architectural, social and narrative needs, and then, design a solution that satisfies all three. These solutions might take the form of a contemplative, interactive table or a forty-foot animated walkway. At Potion, every surface is a potential display, every object a potential interface, and every gesture a potential command.
