New York City teens are invited to learn about careers from over thirty professionals working in the fields of fashion, industrial design, architecture, multimedia, and graphic design. Design colleges from around the country will be on hand to provide admissions and financial aid information. Meet Tim Gunn and top designers from all fields.

TIM GUNN is the Chief Creative Officer at Liz Claiborne Inc. For more than two decades he has served as Dean, Director of Admissions, and Chair of the Department of Fashion Design at Parsons The New School for Design. He is the co-host of Lifetime TV’s Project Runway and the author of Gunn's Golden Rules: Life's Little Lessons for Making It Work.

Confirmed designers in the following categories include:


Cynthia Rowley, who was seven when she constructed her first dress. As a senior at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she sold her first collection to several New York stores. The Cynthia Rowley collection has grown to include women’s, men’s, and children’s wear—including shoes, eyewear, jewelry, handbags, dishes, small leather goods, and a signature fragrance.

Malan Breton catapulted into American pop culture in 2006 when he joined the season three cast of Project Runway. He has since grown his branding and collection. He also has a column in OK! Magazine.


Stephan Kiernan, founding partner of KieranTimberlake, a Philadelphia-based architecture firm noted for its integration of research with design, guided by a deep environmental ethic. He has taught at universities nationwide, including the University of Pennsylvania's School of Design.

William Sofield, known for his unique take on modernism and holistic approach, grounded on craft and materials, creates highly original, compelling, and welcoming spaces. His projects include retail boutiques for Tom Ford, Bottega Veneta, Yves St. Laurent, and Gucci.


Stephen Doyle, Creative Director at Doyle Partners, a design studio specializing in identity, packaging, signage, environment, and editorial design. Notable projects include branding, packaging, and in-store presentations of Martha Stewart Everyday and a new identity program for Barnes & Noble.

Dennis Hwang is the head of the Google doodle team. Doodles, the thought-provoking drawings that incorporate the Google logo on its home page, mark worldwide events and holidays.


Phil Jimenez is a comic book artist and writer known for his time writing and drawing Wonder Woman at DC Comics, and for the cover of Amazing-Spider Man #583, featuring President Barack Obama -- the single best selling issue of a comic book in the last decade.

Maira Kalman is an award-winning designer, author, and artist Maira Kalman has written and illustrated a dozen children’s books as well as an illustrated edition of Strunk and White’s Elements of Style. Kalman’s vibrant illustrations often grace covers of The New Yorker


Ayse Birsel is cofounder and Creative Director of Birsel + Seck, an empathy driven product design studio in New York City that partners with Fortune 500 clients to bring innovation to market.

Angela Yeh founded Yeh Ideology after ten years of recruiting for industrial design firms. Following her completion of the Masters Program at Pratt Institute, she worked as an industrial designer.
