Design Corps

Founded in 1991 by Bryan Bell, Design Corps is a North Carolina–based nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide services to those who would otherwise not have access to design. Its projects consist primarily of community design and planning for rural communities with poor living and working conditions. The organization has also developed a migrant-housing program that builds quality homes on farms, involving farmers and workers in the process. Design Corps’ recent work focuses on Social Economic Environmental Design (SEED), a standard that guides, evaluates, and certifies the positive impact of design on communities.
